Being a Crowd Innovator is about finding practical ways to solve real industrial challenges. Instead of using new technology just because it is available, the focus is on understanding what manufacturers actually need and finding technologies that can help. This includes exploring new ideas, connecting the right solutions to the right problems, and helping businesses improve reliability, efficiency, and day-to-day operations.

We work with manufacturers to understand their operational needs, identify suitable technologies, and determine where these solutions can make a real difference. From selecting the right solution to supporting its implementation, we combine engineering experience with technology knowledge to help manufacturers address equipment and operational challenges, improve reliability, and take practical steps towards smarter operations.
This approach allows manufacturers to look beyond individual equipment issues and consider how technology can support broader operational improvements. By focusing on practical applications, the aim is to make smart technology more accessible and relevant to real manufacturing environments. The ExRBM AI Predictive Maintenance solution was recognised under the Smart Tech Up Programme as part of Teras Impiana’s participation as a Crowd Innovator (CI). The programme helps manufacturers explore and adopt advanced technologies to improve their operations.
For manufacturers, this also creates an opportunity to adopt smart technologies with financial support that can help reduce implementation costs. This includes government assistance of up to 50%, capped at RM500,000 for eligible projects and training, subject to the programme’s requirements.
Unlike conventional monitoring systems that mainly track equipment condition and generate alerts, ExRBM uses AI-powered analytics to go a step further by helping identify what may be causing the problem. Using a combination of semi-supervised machine learning and rule-based analysis, ExRBM analyses multiple parameters such as vibration, temperature, current, voltage, RPM and process data. This allows the system to recognise abnormal patterns, identify potential fault conditions and provide insights into the likely root cause.
Rather than simply telling maintenance teams that something is wrong, ExRBM helps them understand what is happening, why it may be happening, and what action can be taken. Supporting the earlier intervention, reducing unplanned downtime and improving equipment reliability.
